Scotsville is a small community in western Cape Breton, that the South West Margaree river flows through. The river is roughly 120 km in length, the South West side of the river flows from the northeast of Lake Anslie, the two branches meet in Margaree Forks and the river flows north to empty in to the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The river is well known for being a wonderful spot for fishing trout and Atlantic salmon. Fishing is highly regulated now and only fly fishing with barbless hooks is permitted in the main stem of the river.
